Pure, natural ingredients are at the heart of Porcelain Skin. We believe that is as important to be as aware of what you rub on your skin as you are of what you eat. Cold-pressed oil, dried herbs, essential oils and floral waters are the most important parts of our products. Less natural sounding ingredients are required, however, to act as emulsifiers and preservatives. Nature provides few entirely natural emulsifiers, such as egg yolk and lecithin, and they are too inconsistent for commercial cosmetics products. The emulsifiers we use - sodium stearoyl lactylate and glyceryl stearate - are derived from vegetable oils and are safe enough to be used in food production, often in ice-creams.
Preservatives are also necessary to avoid products spoiling. It is more damaging to skin and health to apply skincare products with a high microbiological content than it is to apply products with preservatives. The preservatives used by Porcelain are benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate and phenoxyethanol, as used by green cosmetics companies worldwide, offering a broad spectrum of protection against contamination.
Our products are tested on people, not animals. Our raw materials suppliers do not test their products on animals and are as committed as we are to creating cruelty-free cosmetic products.
When you place an order on our website, your credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption by PayPal, which is regulated by the FSA. Your credit card details are only decrypted after they reach PayPal, where they are then automatically processed and your card charged. They are not held in clear text on any web site so it is not possible for your details to be stolen during a transaction. We never receive your complete credit card details or keep such information anywhere in our systems.
If your order is shipped to the wrong address or it arrives damaged, we'll give a full refund or replacement. Please return the goods within 14 days of the invoice including a copy of the original invoice. We'll also reimburse the cost of postage and packaging.
If you change your mind, you can exchange or receive a credit note provided you return your invoice and unopened goods within six weeks of purchase date.
We will aim to get your products to you as quickly as possible, ideally within five working days. But please bear in mind that, as everything is handmade in small batches, we might be making your product from fresh, which might delay us a little. I'll try to keep you informed by email of when you can expect to see the postman hoving into view.
Your personal details will remain private and confidential. We will never share your personal details in any way with any other company. All data collected is for our internal use only.
Postage and packing within the UK is included. For overseas orders, email and I'll advise you of any additional cost.
